1260-year period (the middle ages)

From our perspective we can look back at what is now called the dark Middle Ages. This is just past history, isn’t it?

A period of political power

In [1260 years of V-dominion] you can find a list of traits based on which the horn or beast of the Biblical prophecy can be identified. Unfortunately, no other conclusion can be drawn than that all the listed traits coincide with the rise and rule of the Vatican. But what does the Vatican have to do with a prophetic period of 1260 days?

The period refers to the rise of the papacy as a political power, it’s reign during the Middle Ages and its temporary end. Below is a link to an extensive paper explaining this conclusion:

“…the shift or transition of what belonged to the Roman Empire handed over since 538 AD to the church and the papal function.”

From our perspective in time, it no longer is complicated to see how the prophetic period of 1260 years is embedded in world history. In the year 538 AD, the Vatican officially gained its political power. This power gradually grew until it clearly dominated during the Dark Ages. In 1798 their religious and political dominion(seemingly) ended abruptly. Napoleon deposed the Pope during the French Revolution and sent him into captivity. This historic period from 538-1798 spans exactly 1260 years. For the outsider the events surrounding the French revolution seemed to end the story for the roman political-religious institution. But was it the end? Got to [V-Power back on the world stage] to find out the remarkable sequel.

Prophetic repetition

In Bible prophecy, events sometimes recur several times. Past events and situations can be examples of what will come later in a different way. The Temple of Israel had been desecrated several times in the past. This happened, for instance, by the gruesome Greek king Antiochus IV. Later, the Romans desecrated and destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem. Since the time of the New Covenant, the word temple has been used solely symbolically to designate the people of God. The church of Christ is referred to as a 'temple'. God does not dwell in a stone building, but he is present among His own people (see e.g., John 4:19-23 | Ephesians 2:21-22 | Titus 7).

Now Paul once again states that the anti-Christian power will settle in the temple (2 Thessalonians 2:4). Remember that since the start of the new covenant, the temple is used to describe the community of God. So, Paul’s remark in this context does not refer to a physical building, but to the church. Someone would come and claim divine authority in the church as if he were God Himself (II Thessalonians 2:4). Likewise, John says that an antichrist (or a plural of it) will arise from the midst of the church (I John 2:18-19). So, the 'abomination’ in the ‘temple’ spoken of in Daniel 12 is not just about an historic event in a physical temple, although this has happened too in the past. It is about infiltration in God's temple, in His worldwide community. Someone would take a seat in the church and claim divine rights. The prophecy of Daniel and Paul points to the installation of the papacy in 538 AD. The Pope, along with his dubious team, has settled in the context of the church and wants to be approached as if he is God on earth and fits all the other prophetic descriptions spot on.

The sacrificial service formed the core of the ancient, physical temple service. The desecration of the temple during the new covenant is of a different order. The literal sacrificial system already ceased, after Christ has given Himself as spotless once and for all, sacrifice. The papal abomination, the power who settled in the church of God, tried to end the sacrificial service that Paul refers to in Romans 12.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:1-2).

By decree of Rome, voluntary and undivided devotion to God Himself was - and is - replaced by a forced submission to a human religious system. It is their mindset which must determine our actions, instead of the mindset which is in line with God’s eternal kingdom [a global pact]. This new desecration of God’s temple is a prophetic repetition, now on a world scale. The final conflict will not be fought in the Middle East, but in the hearts and minds of people [the climax of an ancient conflict].

The word ‘mystery’ is popular in Rome

The symbol of a 'woman' is often used in the Bible as an image of God's dedicated congregation. God's covenant is like a marriage. The image of a 'harlot', on the other hand, represents an unfaithful, apostate congregation. Revelation 17:5 says of the apostate church:

“And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

In the official Catholic catechism, you stumble upon the word ‘mystery’ on just about every page. And no, this is no coincidence.

Extract from a paper on the dominating Middle Ages of the papacy:

In a nutshell, the Justinian Code, which was completed in 534, “enacted orthodox Christianity into law,” placed the pope as the formal head of Christendom, “ordered all Christian groups to submit to [his] authority,” and gave him civil power of life and death over heretics. 4 This code, however, did not become legally promulgated and enacted on the ground until the siege of Rome was lifted in 538. But these later battles and sieges did not nullify the papal-centered legal system that had been put into place in 538. Even when Rome fell again to the Goths, they did not control the Papacy, as at that time it was operating outside Rome.

These secular revolutions began with the French Revolution, which soon led to the capture and exile of the pope by Berthier in 1798. But again, more significant than the military/political event of the capture and exile was the replacement of the religious-centric Justinian Code by the secular Napoleonic Code. The secular code was implemented by the famous bill number 8 of February 15, 1798, where General Berthier declared Rome an independent republic and “in consequence, every other temporal authority emanating from the old government of the Pope, is suppressed, and it shall no more exercise any function.” 9
